Whitney Knapp Bowditch
received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Denison University, and her Master of Fine Arts from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She is a Virginia based landscape painter and art educator, who has previous gallery and museum work experience. She has taught drawing and painting classes at the high school and college level and currently teaches at Virginia Commonwealth University. Much of her work is focused on light, atmosphere, and surface texture. Whitney has lived in a variety of locations both in the United States and abroad, and her love for certain places in evident in the landscapes she represents. Skies also play a significant role in Whitney’s work, which she explores through both drawing and painting media.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and featured in various publications. Her pieces are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad. She is represented by Jessie Edwards' Studio (Block Island, RI) and Eisenhauer Gallery, (Edgartown, MA).
